Basic Terms: a "call option" is the option (but not the obligation) to buy 100 shares of a given investment by a certain date in the future (for example, 3 or 6 months hence).
Likewise, a "put option" is the option to sell 100 shares of a given investment by a certain date in the future.
When Jarret expects a given investment to go up, he recommends a call option. And when he expects a given investment to go down, he recommends a put option. Very simple.

But why is it better to buy "an option to buy or sell an investment," rather than just buying or selling the investment itself?
