The world recoiled in horror after Hamas attacked innocent civilians in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, butchering some 1,200 people.

But another shock soon followed — disgraceful campuses became a breeding ground for pro-

Palestinian activists and antisemitic attacks, including calls for Jewish genocide. On April 24, 2024, pro-Palestine student protesters set up an encampment in Harvard Yard.

This encampment was one of many at U.S. universities. They demanded, among other things, that the universities divest from companies associated with Israel.

Ditto at Columbia University on April 17.

Classes were disrupted, and Jewish students were harassed and prevented from entering buildings.

These incidents come on the heels of blatant Republican harassment.

Shamefully, it’s become commonplace to force out Republican thought — and even bar Republican speakers.

Leftist students went nuts when Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, tried to give a speech at the liberal Virginia Commonwealth University.

The angry mob chanted, “F*** pro-lifers.”

The self-righteous condemnation of Republicans is hard to stomach.

• DEI — the course of the day. Divisive programs that guide students to find problems in society with race, gender, equality, and sexual orientation are prevalent in today’s institutions. Students are taught that diversity, equity, and inclusion mean prioritizing others based on skin color and race.
• All about tenure. Once liberal staff get into schools, they never leave. In fact, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., says, “Tenured professors at elite schools are 97% radical far-left Democrats.”
• Follow the money. Grants, tax exemption, and outside donors — elite universities like Harvard rely on taxpayer grants and exemptions to keep the cash flowing. Newsmax even uncovered outside influence: In 2024, Gulf nations, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, donated some $13 billion to American universities.

But Trump is firing back.

“We’re going to get this anti-American insanity out of our institutions once and for all,” the president said. And just like that he has put the full weight of the executive branch into play.

A federal antisemitism task force said last month that Harvard will lose grants from eight federal agencies — a total of $450 million — in addition to more than $2 billion that was previously blocked by the Trump administration.

This came a mere day after the Ivy League school pushed back against Trump’s damning accusations of liberalism and antisemitism.

Crackdown: Trump Targets Woke Campuses, Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law School’s own professor emeritus, tells Newsmax, “The liberal party I knew used to be a firm supporter of civil rights for everyone . . . that isn’t what we see today.”

The roots of this education crisis trace decades back to a system Democrats plundered for their benefit . . . 

In fact, another great leader was crystal clear that our once-vaunted institutions of higher learning have more to do “with rioting, with anarchy” than “academic freedom.”

In a campaign speech, he blamed faculty and administrators who “press their particular value judgments” on students and decried “a leadership gap and a morality and decency gap” on campus.

That man?

The “great communicator” — Ronald Reagan.

His fight is now Trump’s.
